Waiting for Snowpocalypse 2016!!

Hello Tripawds Family!!

Buddy is just 9 days short of his 3 month Ampuversary and doing FANTASTIC!!   Buddy has just gotten better and better and stronger and stronger each day since stopping chemo.   As you may know, we tried carboplatin but on his last CXR he has 2 small lung nodules.  We just pray that they grow VERY slowly.

I elected not to try Palladia or Metronomics.  Buddy has such a sensitive stomach and I just wasn’t willing to accept the possible side effects.  The good news is that Buddy is once again the dog he always was before all of this Osteosarcoma nonsense!!!    I’ll take quality over quantity anytime and I’m 100% sure I made the right decisions along the way: amputation and chemo.

Now, on to the fun stuff.  DC is forecasted for 1-2 feet of snow.  I’m off work until Monday and my house is stocked with food and wine.  My dear friend is coming over to hunker down with us and she’s bringing Buddy’s best friends.  I can’t really think of a better way to spend 3 days.  Friends, dogs, food and wine!!!

Below, Buddy is surveying the light snow we got last night.  He was hilarious this morning.  So excited that there was snow but a little annoyed that I didn’t want to play in it a 6am before work.  LOL.  He got a nice long afternoon walk when I got home.

Thanks again to each of you who have reached out to us throughout this journey.  I cannot express in words how much this community has meant to us.  Love you guys~

Well…..cancer really does suck!

Buddy has lung mets: (

Please don’t feel sorry for us.  Buddy is so happy right now.  We are done with chemo and meds.  I’m glad we tried chemo.  If we hadn’t – I’d have regrets.

Buddy has been more Buddy for the past 4 days than he has been since this horrible diagnosis.

We will make the best of every day.  I won’t mourn him until it’s time.  Live in the moment, be more dog – YOU GUYS TAUGHT ME THAT!

Thank you Tripawds family. We would be lost without you!!!

Love you all so very much!

Chemo #2 Done!

Buddy had round two of Carboplatin.  His counts were too low last week but we pushed back a week.  Fine with us!  He’s doing great and I love his oncologist and the staff.

He will get his favorite meal for the next few days: Rotisserie Chicken and Rice.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Buddy’s Chariot

Buddy loves his chariot or his “go-cart,” as I call it.

It has done wonders for his morale!!!!  He used to love long walks/runs but now we have to pace ourselves.  The go-cart allows us to do just that and he gets to hang out with his pack-mates.  I can tell when he gets tired and I just tell him “get into your cart” and in he goes!!!

We walk as far as he can, then I have him rest in his cart.  On long walks, we always take a break in one of the parks near our house and he gets out and rolls around in the grass like a puppy!

We hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving ~ We certainly have much to be thankful for!!

Love

Today was a good day!

Trapawds Family,

Buddy is almost 1 month post amputation and 8 days post first round of chemo and my boy could not be doing better.  A very wise woman once told me to “follow Buddy’s lead…..he doesn’t know he has cancer” and that is exactly what we are doing.

Today Buddy wanted to walk farther than ever.  I had his chariot on standby and we took many breaks.  2 of those breaks involved lots of rolling in the grass.  Buddy also just wanted to sit in the sun so that is what we did.  I really don’t think I’ve ever seen him happier and that makes my heart full.

I know the journey has just begun but I will cherish every moment we have together!

Thank you all so much for your sage advice and support.  We are thriving!!

Love

Julie and Buddy
